NTT DoCoMo has announced the Foma F801i , which is a child safety phone to reassure worried parents.
The phone has many features to protect children under attack and help them to alert others of the situation. A 100 Decibel alarm that produces two high pitched tones when activated by the user. The phone also features a high-intensity LED to alert nearby people.
When the handsets alarm is activated it sends out messages to to several pre-defined numbers to alert them of the alarm being activated. This function also sends the childs location remotely to the pre-defined numbers. The battery is screwed into the top of the phone to stop the battery problems causing false-alerts.
The phone can also be configured to automatically turn itself back on after 5 minutes of being turned off. The phone is also waterproof to 1m , which be useful to children who may fall in water or get their phone soaked.
The phone also comes with an additional bracelet that can be used to lock the phone and also enable the phone to beep.
The phone is going to be available in Japan from December 20th and be priced at the equivalent of 180 Pound.
