BomberMan
Bomberman is one of the most enduring games around, with 25 years since its first incarnation. The core gameplay has always been marvellously simple: you control a little man running round a maze dropping bombs, while collecting power-ups to make you even more explosive.
This all-new version won’t disappoint hardcore fans, thanks to its Classic mode that’s a homage to the original Bomberman game, just as you remember it. But for those of us who don’t wear rose-tinted spectacles, the real appeal is the other mode: Bomberman Supreme.
It’s got modern visuals for starters, with a graphical overhaul that’s simply spiffing. It might still be an overhead view, but it looks great.
Also new is the inclusion of two difficulty modes, ensuring the game is accessible to Bomberman newbies yet also presents a challenge for old hands. The latter will also enjoy the comprehensive history and help section.
But if you’re a Bomberman fan, the best news is yet to come: there’s a multiplayer Bluetooth mode, so you and a friend can blow each other up to your heart’s content. It works really well too, making it easy to connect and play within a matter of seconds.
You will, admittedly, need to persuade a friend to purchase and download Bomberman to play against them – but trust us, give them ten minutes with the version on your phone, and they’ll be sold. Whether you’re an established Bomberman fan or new to the series, you need this game. It’s explosively good.
