Orange announced it will provide the eBay online auction service on a range of Orange Signature devices. The eBay application will allow Orange customers to manage bids and view new listings via the Signature Homescreen.
Orange Signature devices are designed to give simple and instant Homescreen access to multimedia applications and represent 70% of all new handsets from Orange. In the case of eBay, Orange customers will have fast access to their ‘watching’ and ‘bidding’ lists to ensure they don’t miss out when on the move. In the future, Signature devices will further simplify the auction process, sending outbid alerts and other updates directly to customers.
“eBay is one of the first jointly branded services we are introducing to Orange’s Signature application suite, joining leading services such as Orange TV, Orange MusicStore and Orange Photo ”, said Olaf Swantee, EVP of Orange’s global mobile operations. “We are making applications immediate and accessible to help customers get more from their mobile phones. For instance, Orange eBay users now have the split-second control required to beat their bidding competitors on the move.”
Orange’s co-branded applications will increasingly be supported by the recently launched Signature Accelerator programme, which is designed to speed the development and testing of applications across all key mobile platforms in the Signature range. This results in the introduction of tightly integrated, intuitive and innovative applications, brought to the customer faster.
