Not only is Sonic the kind of iconic figure that every platform wants, but he’s also particularly well suited for a comeback on a games system that’s enjoying the same popularity that the speedy creature brought to the Mega Drive back in 1991.
Unfortunately, Sega has seen fit to (rather ironically) rush Sonic the Hedgehog to the App Store, in a rough hewn emulation that struggles to keep up with the spiky blue one’s fast feet. A lacklustre presentation further runs this retro classic into the ground, and not in the good way you’d hope for from Sonic.
