Real Time Traffic Reports to Nokia Mobile Phones

Nokia and ARC Transistance, the European network of automobile clubs, announced tthat they are working together to provide Real Time Traffic Information to users of Nokia mobile devices. Nokia will offer the service as a premium offering in Nokia Maps 2.0 and in future versions of Nokia Maps.

By adding RTTI, Nokia can save precious time for drivers by alerting them of traffic, construction or other road hazards that could affect their journey. When Nokia Maps receives the road updates from ARC Transistance, the application can dynamicly re-route during navigation and provide a faster route. This is a significant milestone for Nokia Maps, which makes navigation an even more compelling experience for Nokia device owners.

ARC Transistance Traffic Information services aggregate the real time road and traffic conditions of 16 countries in Europe, and growing. The leading navigation industry players also use the ARC Transistance Traffic Information services to enhance the routing guidance and navigation experience of their customers.

Nokia Maps turns mobile devices into local mapping and routing engines with a navigation option, providing worldwide mapping free of charge. In so doing, the unique hybrid solution combines the advantages of on-board and off-board navigation. Maps and location-aware content only need to be loaded once - they are then always available on the device.
Upgrading to the GPS navigation option enables your mobile to become a powerful connected personal navigation device, that provides clear, turn-by-turn visual and voice guidance. If your Nokia device does not have built-in GPS, you can also use an external GPS module with a compatible device. With vector maps provided by TeleAtlas and Navteq, Nokia Maps now has maps covering over 150 countries, with over 70 of them navigable.

The new version of Nokia Maps 2.0 for selected devices is available on the Nokia Beta Labs website: http://www.nokia.com/betalabs.
The current version of Nokia Maps and the Nokia Map Loader are freely available for download* for selected devices at http://www.nokia.com/maps

Breakthrough in Mobile Phone Unlocking

The launch of an innovative little device called SIMable, which effectively puts an end to the complicated business of mobile phone unlocking.

SIMable is an ultra thin chip, that when attached to a SIM card, immediately fools most mobile phones into thinking that they have been unlocked. It is compatible with the majority of mobile handsets, including all the latest 3G devices, which are becoming more and more difficult to be freed from their original Network.

Introduced to the market by Essex based company 24/7 Mobile Solutions Ltd, SIMable can be installed and working in a Network locked handset in a matter of seconds. By using a customised manufactured cutting press, which comes with each unit, a tiny hole needs to be pressed out in the SIM card. Next SIMable needs to be aligned with the SIM and inserted into the locked handset. Using the cutting press, SIMable can be used more than once by transferring to any other SIM card.

Whilst mobile phone unlocking is not illegal, it will in most cases invalidate the handset's warranty. SIMable requires no handset interference and thus the full manufacturer's guarantee remains intact.

The company are keen to stress that unlike any other similar application on the market, SIMable enables 100% functionality on all phones, including full 3G operation.
The product, available at the company's website www.SIMable.com is launched at a retail price of Euro 16.99, with a standard small delivery charge covering all destinations worldwide. Each package includes the SIMable chip and customised cutting press, which eliminates any need for messy SIM cutting with scissors.

The company is also seeking global Distributors / Resellers to market the product. SIMable can be "white labelled" meaning that it can be rebranded and sold as their own product. Suitable parties would include Travel SIM Operators, Mobile Phone Accessory Distributors and any online or retail mobile phone unlocking outlets.

Veveo launch mobile Web Video Service for Sony Ericssons

Veveo has launched a new mobile Web video service for Sony Ericsson customers called Vtap to provide access to over 150 million Web videos on the Internet.
With the new offering, users can easily search, view and collect relevant and high quality Web videos from anywhere on the Internet, including popular sites like YouTube, DailyMotion, and MySpace , using their existing data services.
Veveo is the force behind the video-anywhere revolution and the Vtap service, which puts the power of searching, browsing and viewing of Web videos at the fingertips of consumers.

Veveo is actively working with mobile operators, mobile manufacturers, TV providers, consumer electronics manufacturers and content creators to deploy its Vtap solutions and is backed by venture funding from Matrix Partners, Northbridge Venture Partners, Norwest Venture Partners and OmniCapital Group.

As per this latest announcement, Sony Ericsson video-enabled handsets and Web portal customers are now offered this Web video service from Vtap which been optimized specifically for Sony Ericsson's multimedia handsets and is available immediately for Sony Ericsson Java Platform 8 (JP8) enabled handsets models: Z770i, K850i, W910i, K660i, W890i, Z750i and Sony Ericsson's JP7 models: W880i, K810i, T650i, K530i, W580i, K770i, and W660i. The service will support English, French, Italian, German and Spanish languages.

Vtap is a mobile search service that’s fine-tuned for video but can be used for audio and text as well. The technology provides relevant video results by indexing video metadata, like tags and surrounding text, instead of actual video file innards.

When users start typing search keywords into the query box, the search engine speedily starts returning relevant results based on the letters they have already started typing. This allows users to type in abbreviated search keywords instead of typing a whole word, which makes more sense for mobile users.

Vtap's intuitive browsing automatically groups video results together logically into easy-to-browse folders. This allows users to choose between incremental search and browsing and dynamically created menus to find and enjoy the most relevant video content on their mobile handsets.

Yahoo! onePlace to Revolutionize Mobile Content ?

Yahoo! continues to enable the global mobile ecosystem with the unveiling of Yahoo! onePlace.
Yahoo! onePlace is designed to be an essential tool to enable consumers to better manage the wide selection of content available across the Internet.

Yahoo! onePlace™ will bring together a consumer’s interests, passions and important information into a single location – creating a rich and highly personalized experience. Everything is instantly organized, dynamically kept current, and served to them the way they want. So now, the content they consume and the way they consume it will be hyper-customized to their specific preferences and tastes.

Yahoo! onePlace will be simple-to-use because it will be based on a familiar process of using bookmarks to instantly link to practically any piece of content (news feeds, web sites, videos, images, emails, search queries, etc.) from anywhere across the Internet. Once in Yahoo! onePlace, everything will be kept automatically updated (with the latest game score, stock price, etc.) as well as assigned categories and tags – or placed into customized “collections” that consumers create – making it extremely intuitive for consumers to find and combine their content in the ways most useful to them.

Yahoo! onePlace will allow consumers to stay better informed on the topics they care about, with less work – for their daily interests (e.g., favorite sports teams or stocks), as well as those they only care about on a selective basis. For example, if a user is planning a holiday to Paris in June, he could create a “Paris” collection, and begin linking it to any information he thinks will be useful to him on his trip: weather conditions, city guides, restaurant reviews, hotel reservations, walking maps, songs of Edith Piaf, English-French dictionaries, winery recommendations, etc.

Yahoo! onePlace will give consumers a single location to consume all of their information contextually, keeping it updated (so they know, for example, if their flight times have changed) and instantly accessible whenever and however they want it. The product will be configured to allow consumers to do the same for literally hundreds of different topics.

For more information on Yahoo! onePlace, go to http://mobile.yahoo.com/oneplace.
